Master Class

January 21-25, 2026

Wednesday - Sunday, 9am-4pm each day

Course Description

This intensive 5-day course is designed to help artists progress their work forward.

If you are stuck, lacking confidence, or feeling uninspired, then there will be plenty of helpful discussion, processes, and guidance to shift you and your work to a new place.

If you want to be pushed out of your familiar way of working for a while so that you can feel refreshed with a ‘kit bag’ of new options to add to your creative practice, then this Master Class could be for you!

Come with paintings and a project that you are already doing that you would like help with or the seeds of a new thing you’d like to tackle in your painting practice. Emily will share her knowledge about handling paint and ways of finding images within the paint. She will also demonstrate exercises that can help you see with fresh eyes and remove the blocks of doubt and hesitation.

You will discover ways to revitalize your focus by unpacking the subject in a different way and asking different questions about what matters.

There will be time for one-on-one instruction, as well as group work where feedback is shared.

And there’s the added bonus of creating in community. This course is limited in size to ensure that you get focused attention from Emily. But you’ll also get the serendipitous benefits of the energy that is unlocked when a group of committed artists is collectively exploring individual creative horizons.

This is an extraordinary opportunity to have creative support for your painting practice that takes into consideration your way of working and your subjects of choice.

PLEASE NOTE: You will receive homework in advance from Emily, with a video describing the tasks. You will be expected to send responses to some thoughtful questions to Emily before the course and bring your completed homework assignments to the class. Showcasing each person's studies and preparatory projects will be the first thing we do as a group when we meet on day one.
