Mini Course: Rubber Ducky,
You’re the One (or Two or Three)

Instructors: Brian & Debbie Miller

This fun and dynamic self-study mini course explores the lovable rubber ducky as our subject. The rubber ducky is deceptively simple, however it can provide years of playful and exciting painting oportunities. We will help you start or continue on the journey.

Using a combination of painting prompts, classroom style lessons, and pre-recorded video demonstrations, we focus on:

  • Why the Rubber Ducky? — Scholars have been pondering this question for years. Debbie and Brian reveal their thoughts on the appeal of the rubber ducky (and other kitschy art).

  • The Anatomy of the Rubber Ducky — Learn how to break down the basic shapes of the rubber ducky. We will be looking at traditional and novelty varieties.

  • Rubber Ducky Habitats: Setting the Stage — Every ducky needs a place to roam. We will demonstrate how you can establish a fun painting habitat for your ducky that will lead to a well-composed painting.

  • Painting Demonstrations — 2 full length painting demos (one from each instructor).

  • Reference images including 6 additional bonus reference photos.

  • An online gallery of paintings from the instructors.

  • Materials list.

This course is suitable for beginners or experienced painters working in oils or acrylics. We demonstrate in a mix of both mediums.
